A plush and opulent wine delivered with a high degree of poise and refinement. Gravelly loamy characters on the nose with spicy savouriness. The palate is earthy with savoury dusty characters complementing the sweet fruit. Has more cherry characters than traditional plum which equates to a more subtle expression of the variety.

Hand-picked and destemmed, but not crushed, cultured yeast for whole berry ferment and cold soak, 9-10 months in French oak (40% new). The perfumed bouquet literally leaps from the glass; the palate, while only medium-bodied at best, has terrific energy and drive, spice, pepper, cedary French oak (from the new oak) and red/black cherry fruits whirling through from the opening stanza through to the fanfare of trumpets on the finish.
Deepish red/purple colour. The aromas are spicy and talcum-powdery, with a kiss of coconut and sandalwood. The palate is elegantly framed, well focused and tight, with full body and a long, long carry. The finish is firm with abundant tannins. Excellent shiraz, well worth cellaring
